surface pattern design

Ok, so I'm on a roll. The School Holidays are here and I'm excited. I'm excited because I get to spend time with the kids, and I carve out time to create patterns.
I have a term time only job, so it's great.

So, I have ordered a swatch of fabric using a design of mine . A wonderful friend said that if I order some material- with my designs on - that she will create something on her sewing machine. I'm excited! I'm eagerly awaiting the swatch!
I've signed up for a surface pattern design competition,  to receive design briefs and create images. I've also signed up to a few free emails where I will receive some design briefs, just to help me get into the mindset of creating patterns for a purpose.
I'm moving forward, and that can only be a good thing. I've ordered a computer that's being custom built, with design programs on. I'm reading up on indexing colours and the benefits of certain programs over others, depending on what you require. And I'm really enjoying it.
Today I saw some lavender and was inspired to create a pattern. I noticed peoples' clothes, and observed patterns and how they work (wanting to desperately take a photo of a woman's skirt, but instead photographing it in my mind, to save for later, in my pattern memory bank )
Here's the lavender inspired piece. How lovely it was. I was sitting in the Tudor House gardens with my children.  They were reading their books n scoffing icecream whilst I sipped earl grey tea and drew on my tablet. A great start to the holidays, I say!
